Maury Schermann of Dallas, Texas passed away on January 16, 2020. A World War II veteran, he will always be remembered as a strong supporter of the Jewish War Veterans. He was devoted to veterans’ causes and raised thousands of dollars for the Dallas VA hospital. He was an avid supporter of The National Museum of American Jewish Military History in Washington, D.C. Maury was very proud to have been one of the first Honor Flight participants.
He was born on April 28, 1923 in Yonkers, New York to the parents of Samuel and Bessie Klein Schermann.
Maury’s fundraising brought him face-to-face with both adults and children for which he truly adored. Maury is survived by Mark Schermann of Dallas, Texas and Garry Schermann.
The visitation will be from 1:00 to 1:30 PM on Sunday, January 26 at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home located at 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75225, in the East Chapel. A service will be held in the East Chapel at 1:30 PM, followed by a graveside burial at 2:30 PM. Burial will be held at Emanu-El Cemetery located at 3430 Howell St. in Dallas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jewish War Veterans, located at 7900 Northaven Rd., Dallas, TX 75230 or The National Museum of American Jewish Military History, 1811 R St. NW, Washington, D.C. 20009.
