I have thought of her often, over the years. Her beautiful smile, infectious laugh. I loved being around her, she always brightened my day. She made nursing school at TU bearable. All the nights we got together and studied, then drank margaritas to celebrate when we passed our exams. I always thought we would meet again. I am so sad to think this will never be. I love and miss you. -Susan Wood

Our hearts are so sad to hear about Melanie. It has been years since we have seen her, so I loved seeing her beautiful pictures. The pictures of her as a little girl brought back sweet memories of the times we stayed in the Hefley home with Steve and Melanie while Berlin and Jan traveled. (Jan I still have two brass vases you brought me many, many years ago from one of your trips!) I can understand some of Melanie's physcial struggles as my mother as dealt with MS for years. I hope your memories of Melanie will bring you comfort in the years to come. I pray for peace and comfort for all of you. Love, Darrell and Dana Hannah

My memory of Melanie goes back to when she was very young. The photo gallery took me to her adult age. Thank you for posting those for us. Melanie was a sweet, strong, and talented lady! It is a privilege to have known her. She will live on in our hearts forever. I wish I could take away the pain in your hearts; I hope knowing so many care will be a comfort to you all.

Melanie was such a classy young woman--I always thought of her as the kind of person I'd want to me when I grew up. Thank you for having shared her with all of us through the years. God Bless.

I have good memories of cheering with Melanie at Pershing Jr. High. My prayers are with you (her family) as you grieve her loss and thank God for the blessing she was.

I want to pay tribute to a very special friend even though we lost touch a long time ago. Melanie was there for me starting at Camp Wakani to fend off spiders, ghost stories and even to hold my hand when I had the flu… She accepted to be my dance partner in our last year of ballet even though I had the grace of an elephant… She rode horses with me in rain or shine when I needed someone to talk to … She patiently taught me how to apply make-up without looking like I just learned… She always knew how to make us smile at Scottie practice… Most of all, she was one of those extremely rare people in life that was just as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. My deepest thoughts, prayers and condolences are with her family and friends.
