Michael R. Allen, of Dallas, TX went home to be with Jesus on Monday, September 7, 2026. Mike was known as a gentle and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, as a savvy businessman and as a man of faith. He was born to Conrad Ray Allen and Edna Chappell Allen on January 5, 1943 in Dallas, TX and spent his early years in east Texas and then on to Shreveport, LA for high school. Mike received a B.A. in Business from SMU in Dallas, TX, where he served as President of his fraternity, Kappa Sigma, and where he met the love of his life, Suzanne Hinckley Allen. Mike went on to establish a successful career first as a commercial real estate broker for Henry S. Miller and later as an entrepreneur in commercial and residential real estate development. His favorite business he started was Clements Allen custom homes, through which he partnered to build over 100 homes in Coppell, and then he went on to partner in or establish multiple other additional small businesses, including Univest Corp, Allen Property Corporation, and Allen Equites among others. Married right after college, Mike and Suzie raised four children: Stacy, Christine, Michael, and David Allen and welcomed eight grandchildren and two great granddaughters into their lives.
Mike was a man of depth and substance who lived his life with quiet conviction. Mike and Suzie both decided to follow Jesus early in their marriage and became actively involved in their church and several Christian ministries. In his early years, he was an active member of small groups and Bible studies, helped to lead Cursillo retreats through St. Michael’s Episcopal Church and then became an active member for many years at Resurrection Episcopal church. He also was a founding member of the Pastoral Care Board for the Children’s Medical Center. Mike and Suzie also later attended Dallas Bible Church, where they became members of small group that continued to meet for about 40 years. In their golden years, Mike and Suzie became members at Christ Church Anglican and loved listening to Father Paul’s sermons. However, Mike’s most significant lifelong passion was supporting Sky Ranch Christian Camp, through which thousands have come to Christ, and he gave selflessly of his time and resources to help launch the camp and then serve on the Sky Ranch board for 34 years. He spent countless hours as a member of the Finance Committee and he considered his involvement with Sky Ranch as his life’s greatest achievement, even wearing his Sky Ranch vest almost daily through his final days. Mike’s faith also spilled over into his professional life, where he was known as a man of both excellence and integrity, and particularly for his skill in negotiating fair business deals that benefitted both parties involved. He served as a model and inspiration for those around him.
Mike is survived by his wife of 61 years, Suzanne Allen, brother John Allen, daughters Stacy (Russell) Allen Davis and Christine (Brad) Allen Estes, and son J. Michael (Sarah) Allen, as well as grandchildren Taylor (Kelby) Davis, Sarah (Alec) Davis Jespersen, Hannah (Reuben)
Estes Tacas, Abbie Estes, Sam Estes, Ben Estes, Bella Allen, and Leah Allen, and great-granddaughters Sadie and Elsie Jesperson. Mike joined his son David Allen in heaven, who preceded him in death on July 29, 2013.
