Michael Thomson Colgin

Michael Thomson Colgin, 76, of Dallas, Texas, passed away May 19, 2024. He was born in Dallas, Texas on July 5, 1947. Michael graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas and was part of the first graduating class of Bishop Lynch High School. Michael then attended El Centro Community College of Dallas where he received his Associates Degree.

He was married to Ellen Kenny Colgin on September 21, 1974. Michael had a career in electronic work for DP&L, Texas Utilities and Oncor Delivery. He had a passion for travel, tending his rose garden, music, casino visits, a good cigar, and was known as the ultimate “fixer” of all home and work appliances, electronics, wood work and plumbing. Michael loved a good project.

He is survived by his wife Ellen Kenny Colgin; his children, Michael C. Colgin, Philip J. and Lindsey Gonzales Colgin, and Catie Colgin and Craig Swan; his siblings, Larry and Mary Duca Colgin, Tony and Joan Polakoff Colgin, Chris and Susan Minshall Colgin, and Cathy Colgin Cantù and Robbie. Michael will be joining parents Larry and Cathryn Ventura Colgin in the afterlife.

Visitation will be held at 6 p.m., May 22, 2024, with a rosary in Michael’s honor starting at 6:30 p.m. at Sparkman-Crane on Garland Road. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., May 23, 2024, at St. Pius X Church. Reception to follow at church. Interment will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rowlett, TX.
