Born on August 31,1952, and reared in Manhasset, New York, Michael graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Manhasset. In 1974 he earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Pace University in New York. There he was smitten with an education student and student government leader from New Jersey named Camille Scoma; and they were married soon after her graduation.
Married nearly 49 years, Michael and Camille welcomed two sons, a daughter and two grandchildren. Michael’s greatest joys came around his family: trips to Bermuda and The Bahamas, Sunday dinners full of lively conversation, walks with a grandson ever-curious about the world.
Michael spent his entire career in the insurance industry, culminating in his purchase and operation of IBD Pro, a retail insurance agency in North Dallas that specializes in professional liability insurance for insurance professionals. Previously he worked at insurance organizations including Towers Perrin, Guy Carpenter and Marsh McLennan.
On Saturday mornings, he could usually be found at The Clubs of Prestonwood, where he played golf with a duffer’s dedication and good humor. He helped organize a group of more than a dozen Prestonwood golfers who sometimes travel out of state together to play.
For Mike, Saturday afternoons were for Mass at St. Monica Catholic Church in North Dallas. The homilies he heard and the lessons learned were often recounted at Sunday dinners. Mike loved to give advice, help his children, and mentor young professionals in the insurance business.
Mike defied his parents and attended the Woodstock Music and Arts Fair in 1969, traveled around Europe after college, and for years enjoyed summers at a family beach retreat in Corolla, North Carolina.
In addition to his wife, Michael is survived by sons Joseph DiLoreto of Grapevine, Texas; and James DiLoreto and his wife, Felicia DiLoreto of Colleyville, Texas; daughter Christina DiLoreto and her husband Clay Zeigler of Jacksonville, Florida. He dearly loved his grandchildren: James and Felicia’s children, Amelia and Nicolas.
Other survivors include brothers Andy DiLoreto of Norwalk, Connecticut; Chip DiLoreto of West Chester, Pennsylvania; and five nephews and nieces.
A Mass of Christian burial for Michael will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Calvary Hill Main Mausoleum North Chapel, 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, Texas 75220.
