Michael Elliot Hirsch, Age 59, of Plano, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013. He was born on October 31, 1953 in Brooklyn, New York, to Martin and Janice Hirsch. A true embodiment of the American dream, he worked his way up with no college education to marry his wife, Jacqueline, to become the top salesman at Ben E. Keith Foods, and to send his son, Jordan, to Columbia University and Yale Law School. In many ways, Michael seemed like he came from another era, sporting Polo shirts with starched popped collars and adamantly refusing to learn how to use a computer or smartphone. In one crucial sense, he was from another time--he was a man of his word. He will be remembered for that unmatched integrity and for the sacrifices he made on behalf of his family and his company--sacrifices borne out of the deepest sense of loyalty and devotion to those for whom he cared. His name will be carried on from generation to generation. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Congregation Shearith Israel, 9401 Douglas Avenue, in Dallas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Foundation One, American Cancer Society , American Heart Association , or Yavneh Academy.
