Michael Eugene Morris was born on September 11, 1955. "The 5'10", 160-pound, All-American running back from Westmoreland, Kansas," as he would describe himself, lived his life the way he played football: run fast and hit hard. He was a successful entrepreneur, loving husband, devoted father, brother, grandpa, papa, and friend.
After high school, Michael went on to Kansas State University, where he pledged Phi Gamma Delta. It would become one of the proudest associations of his life. Upon graduating, he began his professional career as a Field Secretary for Phi Gamma Delta, traveling the country to advise FIJI chapters. As Mike would tell you, being a field secretary is a two-year job because of the grueling travel schedule.
From there, Mike stepped into the staffing world, where he found his calling. His career would bring him many accomplishments, but his greatest came early on, when he met his beautiful wife, Kim.
Kim would have told you she wasn't sure about attending his "champagne party," or about dating Mike, until he asked her, "What's the worst that could happen?" As it turned out, the best thing happened: they became the love of each other's lives. Together they raised their daughter, Sarah, and son, Clay, and devoted themselves to building a beautiful life together. Mike took every opportunity to praise Kim as an exceptional wife and mother, and his love and affection for her never wavered, right up until his last breath.
Mike went on to co-own Pro Staff Professional Services alongside three partners. Together, they grew Pro Staff to more than 100 offices, an achievement he was rightfully proud of.
In retirement, Mike spent his time "selling insurance" to spam callers so he "wouldn't lose his touch." He loved traveling with his family and "buying memories," as he liked to say, and there was no place he'd rather be than his lake house on Cedar Creek. A loyal Dallas Cowboys fan and longtime season ticket holder, he rarely missed a game. He also had a great passion for politics and kept his favorite news channel playing on multiple televisions throughout the house, just to make sure he never missed a minute of the action!
You would be hard-pressed to find anyone with a bad word to say about Mike Morris. He was exceedingly generous to those he loved, with both his time and his resources, and he took great joy in visiting with friends and family. Many have said Mike could talk to a fence post… and often did. Shyness was never one of his many virtues. He was the kind of person you felt you had known for a lifetime after only a few minutes. He touched the lives of many and leaves a great void in the hearts of all who knew him.
Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Kim. He is survived by his children, Sarah and Clay; his granddaughters, Margot, Sloane, and Paige; and "a lot of people who still owe him money!"
He passed away on September 6, 2026, at the age of 70. The family will host a Celebration of Life at The Gibson Dallas on Saturday, October 24, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM.
