

Michael Joseph Smith, age 74, passed away on January 10, 2026, in Waxahachie, Tx. Born on February 21, 1951 in Dallas Tx, Michael lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service to others. He was a devoted father, a hardworking provider, and a man loved by many.
Michael was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Sybil Smith, and his parents, Mildred Campbell Smith and Bonner Leroy Smith, step father Car Dui Bobby Polk.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving children: Tyra Smith, Tamara Smith, Amber Smith, Michael Joseph Smith II, and Vincent Smith; two sisters Evelyn Mangram, Teresa Myrick, one brother Anthony Smith, twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; along with extended family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
From a young age, Michael demonstrated a strong foundation in faith. In his younger years, he served as an altar boy at St. Anthony Catholic Church, where his spiritual journey began. His faith remained a guiding force throughout his life, shaping his character, his values, and his unwavering belief in God.
Michael was a proud graduate of Lincoln High School, Class of 1969. He went on to dedicate more than 35 years of loyal service to General Motors, where he was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and commitment. Providing for his family was one of his greatest sources of pride, and he carried that responsibility with strength, humility, and love.
Michael truly never met a stranger. He had a warm spirit, an open heart, and a welcoming presence that drew people to him. His kindness, generosity, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was respected, admired, and deeply loved by many.
Above all, Michael was a man of Faith. .
