Mildred Marie (Stephens) Stone was born on December 24, 1934 in Liberty County, Texas, to Thad and Margie Stephens. On October 17, 2016, she, peacefully in her sleep, went to be with the Lord and her husband, Paul Stone.
She attended Tivy High School in Kerrville, TX, and graduated in the Class of 1954. After she married the love of her life, Paul Stone, in May of 1958, they moved to their family house in Pleasant Grove, where they lived for over 50 years. She lived out the remainder of her life in the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Copeville, TX, where she passed away. She attended Bethany Baptist Church in Pleasant Grove starting in 1975, and this is where she and her family went, until her health no longer allowed. Her dedicated involvement at the church, and the family bond she felt there meant the whole world to her. She was an avid seamstress, and sewing of all kinds was her passion. She used her hobby to help others who may be in need by making and donating blankets with her Sew in Sew group at church. She was such a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to so many people. She will never be forgotten, as she impacted so many lives along the path of her own life. Granny was happy as long as she had her morning coffee and donut holes, her Kindle to read the Bible, and, most importantly, her favorite green blanket which had to be perfectly straight. She was always a little feisty, but she was also a loving, thoughtful, and caring woman of God.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thad and Margie Stephens; as well as her husband, Paul Stone.
She is survived by her son, Glenn Stone; daughter and son-in-law, Camille and Keith Sale; brothers, Louis Stephens, Jerry Stephens, and Hughey Stephens; sister, Pat Stephens Meade; grandchildren, Meagan and Bo Sale; great-granddaughter, Lena Sale; and well as many extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 20 from 5 to 8pm at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas 75228; and Funeral Services will be Friday, October 21 at 10:00am at Bethany Baptist Church, 7300 Bruton Rd, Dallas, TX 75217.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made in her memory to Bethany Baptist Church.
