

M. P. (Chris) Christensen died Feb. 16 at the age of 96. Born in Obert, Nebraska, he moved to Dallas in 1951. Chris served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theatre as a Communications Officer in New Guinea, the Philippines, and Tokyo. He retired from the Air Force Reserve with the rank of Lt. Colonel.
Prior to his military service, he spent two years at Wayne State College. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1949 and the Harvard Business School in 1951. He met Shirley in 1956 and they were married in 1957.
His career in commercial real estate appraisal began in 1965 with the M. P. Crum Company and culminated with 23 years at the Henry S. Miller Company. He also taught real estate appraisal courses as an adjunct professor at SMU and the University of North Texas. He was an avid traveler with his wife Shirley, having visited six continents, and had a particular fondness for the warm sun of Costa Rica and the enchantment that is uniquely Santa Fe.
Chris is survived by his sister Virginia, wife of 60 years Shirley, son Craig, daughter Ann and her husband Mark Grimmett, and two grandchildren.
A Memorial Reception will be held at Sparkman Hillcrest on March 5 between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
