

Minnie Nell “Nookey” Ward passed peacefully from this life on November 3, 2015. She was surrounded by loved ones and caregivers during the last days of her life. She loved and enjoyed her family and greeted everyone she met with her smile. She had a positive attitude towards life and always had a pleasant word for all. She was baptized at an early age at St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained a member until her death. Mrs. Ward was a 1947 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas, Texas. After a few years of working as a waitress, she was hired by Neiman Marcus Downtown’s Fur Division, where she worked for 33 years until retirement. She is preceded in death by parents, Madie (Bryant) McCullough and Ralph McCullough; brother, Ralph McCullough, Jr.; sister, Jimmie Lee (McCullough) Carter; and son, James E. Carlock II. Minnie leaves to cherish her memories: daughters, Myrna Carlock of DeSoto, Texas and Leslie McCullough of Dallas, Texas; one son, Charles Ward of Dallas, Texas; nine grandchildren, James Carlock III, Shannon Carlock, O’Bryan Carlock (New York, NY) and O’Ryan Carlock, Tynasha Walker, Christian Ward and Jaci Ward, Kohearon Martin all of Dallas, Texas, and Kennede Coleman of Watauga, Texas; cousins, Nita Bryant-Azmar of Los Angeles, California, and Helen Faye Williams of Dallas, Texas, and a host of other relatives and friends.
