She attended K. B. Polk Elementary, T.C. Marsh Junior High and W.T. White High School. She later recieved her Associates Degree in Business Administration and Computer Science. In Monique's earliest years she volunteered at Frederick Douglass Elementary. Shortly after she moved up to become an Office Manager, a position of which she dedicated herself to for 23 years. In Monique's last few years she became family to a company named Surlean Foods where she worked. Monique was also well respected at this Company. Her reputation remains impeccable due to the fact she went to work and did her job without complaining during the whole time of her battling an Ilness she once previously gained victory over. Monique Chante Smith's legacy remains unanimous for being dedicated to her places of employment.
She accepted Christ at an early age at St. Luke Baptist Church where she was also a member of the choir.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her only loving son, Damario Ramon Smith, father, Don Cody Battle, mother, Linda Smith-Watson;sister, Octavia Danuell Smith, brother, Don Cody Battle Jr; aunt Lottie Burns, uncle,Earl Smith Jr of Dallas,Texas;cousins, Karen Burns, Yolonda Burns-Jenkins, Dedric Smith; special nieces and nephew, Marvia(Aubree&Khazi)Coleman, Sierra Battle, and Mark Coleman Jr; Monique was blessed with a host of loving relatives and friends.
