Her work for Royal-McBee Systems afforded her the opportunity to work all over the U.S. and to travel the world. When her company was sold to McDonnell-Douglas, where she worked for several years. Montye then went on to become a successful real estate agent, working for Clements Realtors and Ebby Halliday’s Lake Highlands office.

She married John Turner “Jay” Maynard in 1952 and they had two sons, Michael Maynard (Emma Jean) and Dr. Curtis Maynard (Melba). She also had foster sons she loved as if they were her own, including Benny Ray (Tami) and Steve Adair (Clarice), and her “almost sons” Carl Sprayberry ( Dana) and Harold Bredemier (Barbara).
In 2002, Montye found love again as the wife of Joe Ernest Grubbs Sr. They worked and traveled together until his death in 2010. From her two marriages she leaves behind – grandchildren, step-grandchildren and foster grandchildren, as well as – great-grandchildren.
