Myra Jean Jernigan passed away peacefully at her home in Dallas, TX. on Friday, April 8, 2022. Myra Jernigan was wife, a mother, a daughter, an aunt and a grandmother. Yes, Myra was many things but above all else she was loved by all those that knew her! Myra was a soft spoken woman and though she said little, when she did – she spoke volumes.
Myra was born on June 2, 1944 in Aquilla, TX. To John and Georgia Pustejovsky. After graduating from Aquilla High School she moved to Dallas, TX. And began her career as a clerk for the City of Dallas Municipal Courts. She quickly rose her way up through several departments before retiring after 30 years of service. While working there she met and married Robert Hughie Jernigan and then raised two sons, Kenneth and Steve.
Myra Jean loved spending time with her family, in her garden and baking Kolaches and cookies for her family, friends and church functions. She was a devout George Strait, Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks fan.
For many years Myra was very active in church activities and functions. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Ladies of Charity and the Over 55 Club.
She is survived by her son Kenneth and wife Shannon Jernigan of Quinlan, TX., son, Steve Jernigan of Dallas, TX.; grandchildren, Lauren Jernigan of Quinlan, TX., Garrett and wife Devyn Jernigan and Mallory and husband Blake Kellum of Greenville, TX.; great grandchildren, Nolan Lane Jernigan, Jaxon Levi Kellum, Parker Paige Kellum; brother, Erwin and wife Rita Pustejovsky of West, TX., Gary and wife Betsy Pustejovsky of Sunnyvale, TX.; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Pustejovsky of Ennis, TX., and Delma Sue Karlik of West, TX., and many nieces and nephews.
Myra was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Hugh Jernigan, her parents, John and Georgia Pustejovsky; brothers, James, Bernard, Ronnie, Dennis Ray and sister Janice Kay Pustejovsky.
A time of visitation with the family will be 9:30am, Wednesday, April 27, 2022. Recitation of the Rosary will be 10:00am followed by Mass at 10:30am. Visitation and services will take place at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 8131 Military Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75227.
