She was preceded in death by her parents, five siblings and her loving husband, Otis O. Schwab, who made her life complete. She is survived by her only child, Melinda Harris Herndon and husband Willie of Timpson, TX., two grandsons, Keith Austin Harris and wife Angie along with their two sons Austin Paul Harris and Owen Paul Harris of Reno, NV., and Grant Harris of Dallas, TX., along with several nieces and nephews living throughout Texas.
Nadine graduated Valedictorian of her class at Judson High School. She and her husband, Otto Paul Burandt, moved to Austin, TX., where Melinda was born. Before Melinda's birth, she worked at the state capital and was secretary for the Texas Education Agency's administrator, who had been her high school principal. She later moved to Dallas where she met, married and had a wonderful life with Otis. She was fortunate enough to work for approximately 50 years for the Perry Larson Oil Operating Company, including some years when she was employed by his widow Fran and their children Deanna, Perry L., Sallie and Eric. They were dear to her heart and blessed her with their love, care, friendship and generosity. She missed them after leaving their employ and moving from Dallas, although they were kind to remember her as she aged.
She devoted her life outside her job to her daughter, grandsons, friends and church family. Her husband sparked in her an enjoyment for travelling, which she continued over the years with family and friends. She maintained a welcoming home with beautiful flowerbeds which she tended year-round when she wasn't in church, going to plays, movies, Texas Rangers games and playing dominoes with her friends. An excellent cook, her family will miss gathering around her beautifully dressed table for food and companionship. Nadine was known for having an impeccable presence even until her death, and giving compliments and encouragement to others.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Garrison Nursing Home and Rehab Center for helping make Nadine's last years comfortable and showing her she was loved even outside her family, the employees of Accolade Hospice who directly cared for her, and subsequently the Lifecare Hospice caregivers.
