"If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."
It was a code she lived by.
A wonderful sister, wife, and the best mother a girl and boy could ever ask for.
She did more for others than anyone will ever know, because it was all done anonymously, or behind the scenes.
She was born Doll Naylene Partin on January 25, 1935 to Bill and Buna Partin in Pineland, TX, and passed away December 26, 2016 in Sunnyvale, TX. She graduated from Borger High School in 1952.
After a brief career as a baseball Queen for the Borger Gassers, she met and married James L. "Jimmy" Lyons, with whom she enjoyed sixty years of marriage until his death in 2015.
After marrying she delayed her own wants and career wishes to stay home full time with their children.
In 1968 she enrolled in what was then North Texas State University where she earned a Bachelor's degree in education, and later a Master's degree in counseling. She enjoyed a successful career with the Tyler and Dallas Independent School Districts, first in a teaching capacity, and later as a counselor.
She is survived by her sister, Rita; daughter, Linda; son, Matt; grandson, Chad; granddaughter, Natalie; and great-granddaughter, Kendall.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 10:00am, with visitation one hour prior, at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow at 1:00pm at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
