Nora Maglente Villanueva passed away on May 30, 2026 at the age of 88. She was born on January 10, 1938 in San Jacinto, Masbate, Philippines to parents Quirino Maglente Sr. and Florentina Barsaga Maglente. After she lost her father during WWII at only 3 years old, Nora and her expectant mother forged an enduring bond that would shape the course of their lives.
Nora graduated from the University of the Philippines with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1960 and started her profession at Philippine General Hospital. After immigrating to the United States in 1972, she made advances in her career rising to Supervisor at Dallas Memorial Hospital and later on at Kindred Hospital. Nora had a passion for travel and fashion. She would often reminisce about her trips to Jerusalem, Paris, Brussels, Machu Picchu, and Mexico City. In her later years, she almost never left the house without her Louis Vuitton purse and Burberry hat. Nora’s love for travel allowed her to meet many people from different walks of life. She was admired by strangers for her confidence, charisma, and sense of style.
Instilled by her mother, Nora’s faith and love for the Lord grew as a consecrated member of the Señor Santo Niño Fraternity. She became a professed member of the Secular Franciscan Order on November 2, 2003 in Dallas, Texas. Nora took on the role as Secretary of their fraternity and was a dedicated attendee to their monthly meetings.
