Norma was born on July 17, 1936 in Dallas, TX to her parents, Ruth and Joe Wall. She married the love of her life; Gene Alston Johnston and they made a home in Oak Cliff after graduating from Sunset High School. The couple remained in Oak Cliff where they raised three children.
Norma later became employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone where she continued for 20 plus years before retiring. She dedicated her remaining time to her grandchildren. Norma was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Norma is survived by her sons, Gene Johnston Jr. and Randy Johnston; as well as Debbie Hawkins, who Norma considered to be one of her children. Her granddaughter Lori Chung, grandsons, Brandon Johnston and Hunter Johnston. She was blessed with two great grandson, Alex and Andrew Chung; and is preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Johnston.
Service will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Laurel Land Funeral Home with a committal and burial service to follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
