02/23/1937 – 08/14/2020
Norman Ruben Webster of Dallas went to meet the Lord on Friday, August 14, 2020 at the age of 83 due to heart failure. His wife Patricia A. (Roznovsky) Prince Webster and step-son Donald W. Prince were at his side. Born in Los Angeles, CA on Feb. 23, 1937, Norman quickly moved to Dallas, Texas with his parents John and Irene (Jervais) Webster. He graduated from Sunset High School in Oak Cliff where he enjoyed running track especially relay races; the four-man team won state. As a teen he attended and accepted Christian baptism at a Methodist church in his neighborhood.
After a year’s stint in college, Norman joined the U.S. Air Force serving for four years as the communicator on-board freight planes flying to bases overseas, using radio and Morse code. He told many stories to Patricia (Pat) regarding his adventures and exploits.
Norman discovered his career fulfillment in founding Coral Construction, Inc., as a commercial builder. Some of his main clients were La Madeline, Game Stop and Pearl Vision. He completed hundreds of locations for each across the U.S. He told Pat that he was successful, because he was the lowest bidder, completed work on-time and under budget. He believed in honesty, hard work, and fair dealing. Norman encouraged men and women to join his company with the understanding that he would mentor them. He placed them at their skill level and allowed them to work their way up as quickly as possible. Norman retired in 2002, but former employees continued to call him and drop by his home when they were in town. One project manager said with pride that Norman was tough but good to work for. Norman talked about his work with his company to his dying day.
Norman’s passions included: family life; entertaining; deep-sea fishing; traveling to Porto Rico for gambling; building bird houses – each one a unique style and color. Later Norman and Pat loved seeing grand-children and other family members; they studied the bible; attended St. Rita Catholic Community; they played cards and other games with friends; attended all the operas each season; watched sports; enjoyed movies and eating out; traveled to Hawaii and China and U.S. locales.
Norman was preceded in death by parents John and Irene (Jervais) Webster; brother Wallace Webster; and wife of 55 years, Nancy P. (Huffman) Webster.
Norman is survived by step-daughter Sheryl Penttinen, husband Doug (with late wife Nancy); his beloved wife Patricia (Prince) Webster and three step-children: Carol Prince Campise, husband Frank, sons Nicholas and Ross; Denise Prince, sons Ford and Wren; and Donald Prince. Sister, Mary Lou Henderson and nephews Arthur, Paul and David; his late brother’s daughter Cindy and his two sons Mark and Mike.
