

Essie Oleta Potter, born on August 11, 1929, in Madisonville, Texas, passed away on October 3, 2024, in Forney, Texas. She was a devoted wife to Kenneth Potter and a loving mother to her two sons, Larry and Kenneth Jr., all of whom preceded her in death.
Oleta, as she was affectionately known by those close to her, cherished her role as a grandmother to Ashley, Michelle, Lowell, and Kenny, taking immense joy in nurturing her family both literally and figuratively.
She was known for her kind, generous, and thoughtful nature, always putting the needs of others before her own. Oleta's love and care for people extended beyond her family to her community and the members of her congregation at Central Baptist Church, where she regularly contributed her time and compassion for 31 years.
She is survived by her brother, J.B. Whearley, and her grandchildren: Ashley Pyle, Michelle Bradshaw, Lowell Potter, and Kenny Potter, all of whom will fondly remember her warmth and unwavering support. Her legacy of love will continue to inspire all of who knew her.
Funeral services for Oleta will be held at Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Alzheimer's Association. A reception will be held immediately following the graveside service at Grove Hill Funeral Home.
