
Remembering Opal L. Hall Saturday, September 19, 2015 Rev. Opal Emaline Lesher Hall, prayer warrior, was born near Cavalier, North Dakota on December 22, 1915 – God’s Christmas present to us all for one hundred years, and walked thru the Gates of Glory from Red Oak, Texas on September 16, 2015. She died peacefully in her sleep early that morning. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Oliver Hall, her parents Harry and Ina Lesher, and her eldest son, George Oliver Hall, Jr. She was the last of her siblings to enter Heaven’s gates: Florence, Leonard, Gayle, Willard, Viola, Arlene, Lyle, Fae, Lorraine, Harry, Jr., and Lillian. She is survived by her Children: Harry (Wanda) Hall (El Dorado Hills, CA), Charles (Nancy) Hall (Maryland Heights, MO), and John (Andrea) Hall (Red Oak, TX), Bonnie (Keith) Elders (Hutchins, TX) and Grace (John) Feisthamel (Red Oak, TX), and daughter-in-law Judi Sparks Hall (Killen, TX). Opal is also survived by: Grandchildren; Andrea (Ken) Hayes, and Maurine (Nick) Dean; step-granddaughter Celeste (Fernando) Fonseca, and granddaughter of her heart, Katherine Johnston Coleman. Kevin (Carisa) Hall and Andy (Nora) Hall. Joshua (Jenn) Hall and Seth A. (Hannah) Hall. Tony Lozano and Sarah Hall. Cody (Samantha) Spurgin and Kyle Spurgin; and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, including those special friends she adopted, such as Kay and Kristie McCrary and Nita Stampley, and many others. Opal’s parents, who were farmers, moved from the state of Iowa to North Dakota, where she and her siblings shocked grain, pulled mustard, and picked potatoes as children. Opal graduated from Cavalier High School in 1934 and Bible College (Glad Tidings) in 1941. She was the fourth child and second girl among her siblings. Opal had always felt that her highest calling was to pray and preach the gospel. She has been an evangelist, pastor’s wife and co-pastor, a Kid’s Crusade children’s evangelist, Cub Scouts den mother and author of many books, poems and songs. She was always helping others in need, including praying with neighbors and; inviting neighborhood children in for something to eat, drink, and especially to share a gospel story, sharing the love of Jesus. The Memorial service was held at the “Lonestar Cowboy Church of Ellis County,” on 1011 East Ovilla Rd (FM 664) on Saturday September 19th, 2015 at 1 pm. Visitation with the family will be Friday the 18th at 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Laurel Land Funeral Home. There will be a procession back to the gravesite at Laurel Land. The family would like to especially thank Jo and Butch Fanning for their excellent care of our mother during her last years, John Feisthamel for the many backrubs he gave her daily for years; and the staff who cared for her at the Red Oak Rehab and Nursing Home.
