Oscar Vasquez, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, just shy of his 73rd birthday. Born on May 17, 1952, in Sabinal, Texas, Oscar brought joy, warmth, and unwavering devotion to everyone he encountered.
In 1968, Oscar moved to Dallas, a place he would come to call home. It was there that his lifelong love story began—with Josie, his middle school sweetheart. The two were married in 1976 and shared 48 beautiful years together, building a life filled with love, laughter, and family.
A dedicated and talented Master Plumber, Oscar spent many years with Atmac Mechanical, where his hard work and expertise were highly valued. Outside of work, Oscar was a proud and active member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Parish, where his faith anchored him throughout his life.
Oscar had a deep love for the Dallas Cowboys, always ready to cheer on his favorite team. He also found great joy in the simple things—spending time in his garden, nurturing plants with the same care and patience he showed to his family. But above all, he cherished his role as a father and grandfather. Whether it was a school play, a sports game, or a family celebration, if his grandchildren were involved, Oscar was there—cheering, supporting, and beaming with pride.
He is survived by his devoted wife Josie; loving daughter Cynthia; son-in-law Felix Hernandez; cherished grandchildren Chris, Caitlyn, and Maddy; brothers Jesus V. Banda and Victor Valdez; sisters Josefina Alejandro and Marina Vasquez; as well as brothers-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Oscar now joins his beloved mother, Andrea V. Banda; brother, Juan Banda; and sister, Maria Soto in eternal rest.
Oscar’s legacy is one of love, strength, and unwavering commitment to family. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever celebrated.
