Pamela Kay Walstrum was born in Dallas, TX on August 15, 1952 to the parents of John G. Walstrum from Baltimore, MD and Ruby Lorene Gustavus from Normangee, TX. She was raised in Oak Cliff and attended DISD schools. She graduated from Adamson High school in 1970. While attending she was on the Leopardette Drill Team and was one of the R.O.T.C. Sweethearts. After graduation she went to El Centro Jr. Collage and graduated with an Associate Degree.
After various jobs she started work at Commerce Grinding and she worked there for 32 years. She worked accounts receivable and could be somewhat overbearing and relentless in her collections of outstanding debts. She earned the nickname of Dragon Lady from customers, which she loved as the Dragon was her Chinese zodiac sign. She was 70 years young and still working a 50-hour work week with no plans to retire yet.
She was very giving and wanted everyone to share her love of reading. She would always buy and set up libraries for friend’s children and would continue to furnish new books as the children grew up. Pam bought books for school libraries, teachers and all new babies born to friends.
In 1992, our Mom, Rene, passed away and left Pam, sister Trish and niece Tiffany alone. Pam was a wonderful Aunt to niece Tiffany as she was growing up. Tiffany had a village to help raise her to adulthood. Pam played a big part of that. When Tiffany got married to Pedro and they had a son, William. Pam called him her sweet baby mine and the bond was made. She lived for him.
Pam is survived by sister Patricia Durham, niece Tiffany and her husband Pedro Serrano, nephew-in-law and great-nephew William Serrano all of Oak Cliff. She is preceded in death by her mother, Rene (1992) and father, John (1980). She leaves many cousins, friends and people that loved and cared about her. Her loving and giving spirit will be greatly missed.
