Patricia Prindle Andrews, 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2024 with family by her side. She was born on January 19, 1942 in Brainerd, MN to S.R “Jake” Prindle and Charlene Katherine Whiting. She was granddaughter of C. Homer and Belle Whiting, and E.M and Julia Prindle.
Pat graduated from Aitkin High School in 1960 and then went on to earn a liberal arts degree attending Hamlin University and graduating from William Woods. Growing up in the lake country, her childhood was filled with wonderful friends, all enjoying the beautiful outdoors of Minnesota including summer sessions at Camp Lake Hubert and swimming and skiing at Gull Lake. In the winter, Pat loved to ice skate on the lake. Her father often flew her and her friends down to the Twin Cities for special weekends. Pat enjoyed flying with her dad so much she decided to take her own flying lessons and obtained her pilot’s license. She loved classical music, took piano lessons for 16 years, and as a result could read and play almost any major classical score. Pat was also honored to be selected as the “Queen” for the grand opening celebration of the St. Lawrence Seaway held in Detroit.
Pat moved to Dallas in 1964, working as a recruiter for Hartford Insurance. She was set up on a blind date with Carl Andrews by their good friends, Roy and Janis Coffee. Pat and Carl married in 1968 and together they raised their two sons on Caruth Blvd in University Park. Pat was deeply involved in her community, serving as Chairman for the Park Cities 4th of July Parade for 3 years and serving on the original Goar Park committee responsible for building the Gazebo and organizing the annual Easter Egg Hunt.
When her oldest son was about to enter Highland Park High School she decided to work there to keep an eye on things with her boys and their friends. Pat ended up working in the counselor’s office for 9 years. Her lifelong vocation, however, always remained being a homemaker, wife and mother. Family brought Pat her greatest joy in life.
Pat was raised in the Presbyterian faith and later became a devoted member of Park Cities Baptist Church along with her husband. She was a strong and faithful Christian; she read scriptures and prayed every night, maintaining a prayer book for years. Her family takes solace in knowing she is at home with our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Pat was also a member of The Dallas Woman’s Club, Marianne Scrugg’s Garden Club, Mary K Craig Class, Armstrong Review Book Club, Friday Book Club, Tres Jolie Dance Club and Brook Hollow Golf Club.
Pat was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, younger brother Thomas Grover Prindle of Memphis, TN, father-in-law Carl H. Andrews, mother-in-law Frances Flack Andrews, brother-in-law Thomas Marshall Andrews and sister-in-law Susan Andrews Koons.
She is survived by her loving husband Carl Andrews; son Brad Andrews (Anabelle) of Montreal, Canada and their two sons Charles and Georges; son Christopher Andrews of Dallas; cousins Bob Whiting (Jean) of Dallas, Drew Andrews (Christi) of Lake City, CO, Laura Goodwin (Gene) of Dallas, Margaret Davis (Nick) of Kansas City, KS and their respective families.
The family would like to sincerely thank Lena from Hospice, Thomas and Mimi from The Legacy at Midtown and Cassandra Sweet from Visiting Angels for the wonderful care and compassion provided to Pat on her final journey home.
The Memorial Service will be held at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 2:00 pm followed by a reception in the funeral home parlor. Private family interment Hillcrest Memorial Park.
