Patricia Ann Herman

Patricia Ann Herman peacefully passed away on September 12, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Pat was born in Palestine, Texas on July 21, 1928 to Zula and Clifford “Pete” DeLaFosse. She was active in the Palestine Wildcat band, a majorette, and graduated in 1945. She met and married Nicholas Botello while attending the University of Texas in Austin. Their children, David Botello and Elizabeth Botello Harkins were born in Austin and San Antonio respectively. Pat was left to raise the children, upon Nick’s untimely death in 1954. She had a successful career in the life insurance field, with management positions in Dallas, New York and Frankfurt, Germany. Love found her a second time and she married artist, Ben Herman in New York City in 1979. Her assignment to Germany provided some of the best years of her life, as they traveled extensively throughout Europe. Upon her retirement from Mutual of New York they settled in Ft. Lauderdale where she became an accomplished stain glass artist and jewelry designer. She lost the love of her life in 1996 and eventually came back to Dallas in 2006 to be close to her children and grandchildren.

Most recently she dedicated time as a care provider in the Neo-natal intensive care unit at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, where she was recognized for her outstanding contributions.

Her caring spirit and love will be missed by her extended family which includes her son, David and daughter Elizabeth, grandsons Chris Botello and wife Rachel, Bryan Botello, Aaron Harkins, John Harkins, Bryan Harkins, son-in-law Rick Harkins, step daughters Hilary Herman and Ethlie Ann Vare, sister Martha Norall and husband Roger. Others who loved Pat dearly include Cindy and Aston Simpson and Anne Brown.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, September 14, 2012 at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy., Dallas, TX.
