

Patricia Lou Cator Patterson, 79, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2017. Pat was born on December 23, 1937 in Spearman, Texas. She grew up in a ranching family in the Texas Panhandle and New Mexico. Pat graduated from Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she was a basketball player and cheerleader. After high school, Pat attended West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas and graduated from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. Pat worked as a high school English teacher in Kenai, Alaska, a real estate agent in Kingwood, Texas and an editor for New Mexico Magazine in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and viewing sports events on TV. Pat’s fondest memories included crossing the Arctic Circle in Alaska and receiving a Certificate of Appreciation from Governor Garry Carruthers of New Mexico. Family and friends were Pat’s love and joy. She will be forever remembered by her daughter, Brenda Serafino and her husband, Chuck Serafino, of Dallas, Texas; her two grandchildren, Chase Serafino of Dallas, Texas and Brittany Serafino of Washington, D.C.; her sisters, Vian Gallagher of Arvada, Colorado and Donna Underwood of Amarillo, Texas; her brother, Don Cator of Amarillo, Texas; and her many nieces, nephews and friends. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Pete Cator and Leone Yell Cator; her brother, Sonny Cator and her sister, Gladys Miller. The family wishes to thank all of those at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, OnPointe Skilled Nursing and Faith Hospice who lovingly cared for Pat over the last four months. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home on Northwest Highway, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Wellborn Street, Dallas, Texas 75219.
