Patrick William McNamara Jr.

Pat was born in Dallas, Texas, on December 11, 1933. He attended Holy Trinity Grade School and Jesuit High School in Dallas before graduating from the University of Notre Dame.

Following college, Pat served his country in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957.

In 1958, Pat married Carolyn Courtemanche. Together, they built a loving family and shared 68 years of marriage.

Pat devoted his career to managing his family’s Coca-Cola franchise operations in Lubbock and Plainview, Texas, and Roswell, New Mexico. He also served on the boards of directors of the Dr Pepper Company and Lubbock National Bank.

Pat enjoyed traveling, and for more than 30 years, he and Carolyn treasured time at their vacation home in La Jolla, California. He was a member of Dallas Country Club and Coon Creek Club and a past member of La Jolla Country Club, La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, and The Vintage Club in Indian Wells, California.

Pat loved dachshunds, and he and Carolyn had five of them through the years. He loved fishing at Coon Creek with his guide and with family, and he was a devoted Notre Dame football fan.

Pat is survived by his wife, Carolyn; their five children, Pat McNamara III (Amy), Molly McNamara (Doug Wells), Maggie Alcott, Louise Swope (Paul), and John McNamara II (Amy); 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren, with another on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Lynn Ryder, and his niece, Margaret Ryder.

Pat was predeceased by his parents, Pat W. McNamara Sr. and Enola McNamara.

Although Pat accomplished much during his long life, his most enduring legacy is the family he and Carolyn built together. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, extended family, and many friends.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8017 Preston Road in Dallas, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026.
