

Paul H. Darr, Jr. was born on January 30, 1924 and passed away on March 30, 2011. He was born in Colgate, OK to Hazel Stedman and Paul H. Darr. He grew up in Brenham, TX and attended SMU for one year before being drafted at age 19 into the U.S. Army for service in WWII. He served in the Pacific Theater in an anti-aircraft battalion. He participated in the invasions of Leyte in the Philippines and Okinawa. He also saw service in Korea just after the end of the war. Following the war, he attended Baylor University and graduated with a B.B.A. degree in 1948. He went to work for the Insurance Company of North America (now CIGNA) and had a long and prosperous career for 35 years, living in Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Houston, Philadelphia, Oklahoma City and Plano. He was a resident of Plano for 31 years. In 1954, he married Willa Ann Stone of Hot Springs, AR and they had 2 sons, Paul H. Darr III of San Antonio and Tom S. Darr of Austin. He was an avid golfer and an enthusiastic fan of Baylor University and Baylor sports. He was a member of Custer Road United Methodist Church and the Virtuoso Society of the Plano Symphony Orchestra. He enjoyed his family, his many friends and his Sunday school class. He is survived by his wife, Willa Ann, his two sons, three grandsons, Eric, Hunter and Britain Darr, daughtersin-law, Miranda Darr and Stacey Darr, sister and brother-in-law, Betsy Lavin and Dr. Gary Lavin. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 4th at 2:00 PM at the Custer Road United Methodist Church, 6601 Custer Road, Plano, TX 75023. Memorials may be made to the Custer Road United Methodist Church Children's Ministry or a charity of your choice.
