Paul Moreno Martinez Jr.

Paul Moreno Martinez, Jr., 72, of Irving passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Irving, TX. He will forever be remembered as a loving, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew and loved him.

Paul was born in Dallas, TX on February 18, 1943 to Paul and Ernestine Gaytan Martinez, Sr. A 1962 graduate of Crozier Tech High School, Paul met and later married his high school sweetheart, Maria Juanita Contreras, on July 22, 1967. Paul spent his life selflessly looking after others, proudly serving in the Dallas and Irving Police Reserves and 22 years in the Army National Guard, including deployment to Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Storm. Paul retired from JCPenney and then went on to a new career with Shermco Industries, retiring on his birthday in February 2015. Paul enjoyed attending dances with Juanita and their friends and family and his favorite past time was spending time with his beloved wife and children and attending the many school, soccer, and dance activities of his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Juanita Martinez of Irving, TX; son Michael and his wife Laura of Wylie, TX; son Christopher and his wife Pat of McKinney, TX ; daughter Lisa of Irving, TX; 4 grandchildren, Zachary and Jacob Martinez of Wylie, TX and Erick and Sophia Martinez of McKinney, TX; sister Irma Martinez of Irving, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Lydia Martinez and Celia Padilla.

The Viewing will be held at Sparkman-Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas on Sunday, December 13th at 2pm, followed by Rosary at 5:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Irving on Monday, December 14th at 9:30am. 202 South MacArthur Blvd, Irving, TX. Burial will follow in Calvary Hill Cemetery.
