Paul A. Tijerina

Paul was born July 13, 1928 in Rosebud, TX, to Hosea and Matilda Tijerina, and passed away December 27, 2014 in Dallas, TX.

Paul will always be remembered as a man who greatly loved his family. He also loved baseball and the outdoors – especially hunting and fishing, as well as being a collector of “found” objects. Paul was a strong man who never complained, and always looked for ways to be self-reliant. He taught himself to read, play music on the harmonica and the accordion, and even re-taught himself to drive after his amputation.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, and 2 sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Frances Sanchez Tijerina; son, Paul Tijerina, Jr; daughter, Phyllis Rodriquez; son, John Sanchez; son, Dale Tijerina; daughter, Julia Tarver; daughter, Matilda Tamayo; daughter, Mary Franks; son, Robert Tijerina; son, John Paul Tijerina; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and 2 sisters.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 31 from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M., and will be followed by Funeral Services at 2:00 P.M. at Grove Hill Funeral Home.
