

Peggy, born August 13, 1939, is the 7th child of 10 by Willard and Mary Brewer. She graduated from Pyle High School in Rosser, Texas in 1957. At Pyle, Peggy was one of the top players on the girls' basketball team and was later inducted into the Pyle High School Hall of Fame for basketball in 2015. Peggy lived in San Diego, CA for several years before returning to Dallas with her son, Bernard. In 1960, Peggy married the late Willie Joe Hill and to this union three children were born, Bernard, Michael, and Alanna. In 1961, Peggy received her LVN license from the Dallas Vocational Nursing School.
In 1980, she received her Associate Degree in Nursing from El Centro College in Dallas and became a registered nurse. Peggy had a successful career at Baylor University Medical Center for more than 40 years where she held various positions including management. After retiring from Baylor, Peggy continued using her nursing skills in the home health industry. Peggy was also blessed to raise, teach, and support her many grandchildren as well as experience her great grandchildren. She was beyond proud of her grandchildren and there was nothing she would not do for them. She passed peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, in her daughter’s home at the age of 87. At the time of her passing Peggy was the matriarch of the family, and her advice is cherished by all.
Peggy Jean Hill Stevenson’s Life and Legacy will always be remembered by her loving children, Bernard Hill (Tonya), Michael Hill (Pamela) and Alanna Hill-Cannings; devoted grandchildren, Dominique Cannings, DeAris Cannings, DeAndré Cannings, Deangelo Cannings, DeAndria Cannings, Fabian Jones, Nakiya Jones and Michael Hill, Jr.; great grandchildren, Jazyriah Cannings, Tyjah McGee, Lela Jones and Iesha Jones; brother, Cecil Brewer (Sandra); sister, Dimple Fisher(Eli) and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
