On Tuesday, May 30th, Phyllis Ann Lorang passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home in Dallas. Phyllis was born on March 20th, 1934, in Deadwood, SD to parents Fred and Gladys Schnitzel. She and her husband of 70 years, Malcolm Lorang, grew up together in the small mining town of Lead, South Dakota. Phyllis was a longtime resident of Dallas having moved from California where she and her husband raised their two children, JoDee and Jeffre. Phyllis was a devoted wife to her husband and supported him through his years serving in the Air Force, pursuing multiple higher education degrees, and a 50-year career in technology. Phyllis never met anyone without a smile and engaging conversation. She dedicated herself wholly to her family, friends, and her many hours of volunteer work. “Phyllis was a charter member of Christ Church in Plano, where she played an instrumental role in its establishment and growth. Recognizing the power of prayer in the life of a believer, she dedicated herself to interceding for the church, it’s leaders and congregation. Her commitment to a life of prayer was unmatched, and she tirelessly lifted the needs of others, seeking God’s guidance and blessings upon the community,” lovingly shared by the Episcopal Priest, David Roseberry.
She is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Gladys Schnitzel; son Jeffre Lorang; daughter-in-law Sharon Lorang, sister Beverly Von Wald and husband David, and brother-in-law Ivo Murdy.
