Frances Pauline "Polly" Williams, 89, passed away November 19, 2019 in Forney, Texas. She was born on July 13, 1930 in Dallas, Texas to Mary Elizabeth Poston and William Edward Greenlief Poston. Polly was raised in the Pleasant Grove area of Dallas, Texas and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1947.
In her spare time Polly enjoyed flower gardening, reading, Bible Study, travelling and caring for her family. She especially enjoyed socializing with her 7 siblings and spouses. Polly was instrumental in organizing the Ladies Fellowship at Prairie Creek Baptist Church where she served tirelessly with the ladies. Polly was the head cook for 3 weeks each August for Roundup Ranch on Lake Murray in Oklahoma serving hundreds of campers grades 3-12 from several churches. This task raequired months of meal planning, ordering food and drink, gathering cooking equipment and recruiting others to join the team. Polly chaired the organizing committee who transformed one of the old Prairie Creek Sunday School buildings into the lovely missions home. She planned and organized a team of ladies to prepare the churchwide Wednesday evening meals at Prairie Creek for many years. Polly was the consummate housewife and hostess as she cared for the family of 7, but also opened the Williams' home to visiting choirs, guest speakers, missionaries and evangelists who ministered at Prairie Creek.
The Williams' home was always open to serve and entertain guests. She hosted many baby showers and wedding showers in her home for the Prairie Creek family before the new Fellowship Hall was built. Her family was her top priority. She was her children's best cheerleader, encourager, disciplinarian as well as their playmate. Polly enjoyed card games, board games, old fashioned Jacks, and loved a serious game of scrabble. And Polly LOVED the Dallas Cowboys. During one game in 1981, Roger Staubach was throwing a Hail Mary pass to Drew Pearson, she got so excited that she jumped up from the sofa, ran across the living room and leaped over the loveseat where one of her daughters was sitting to help Roger complete the pass!! Her family and friends will always remember Polly as a cheerful companion, prayer warrior, a problem solver, a trusted friend, encourager and confidant.
Polly is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Elizabeth Winton Poston and William Edward Greenlief Poston, sisters, Maggie Poston Tullis, Cora Poston Gentry and Nora Poston Lechner, and brothers Wilson Poston and James Poston.
