Raul Castro Conde, affectionately known as “Peanut,” passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, in Grand Prairie, Texas, at the age of 80. Raul was born on January 18, 1946, to Francis Castro and Alfredo Conde.
Raul grew up in Dallas, Texas, and graduated from N.R. Crozier Technical High School in 1966. He lived in the La Bajada neighborhood of West Dallas with his mother and brothers but was nurtured by the community of La Bajada and never forgot where he came from. He overcame many obstacles and challenges, growing up before his time—experiences that shaped him into the strong and determined man he became. A devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather, and provider, he mentored many from the wisdom gained from his life experiences.
In 1967 he was called to serve his country in the U.S. Army. He proudly served in Vietnam, where he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart. He was a dedicated worker at Kroger’s for 20 years. Raul later worked at the United States Postal Service as maintenance and retired with 27 years of service.
Raul was married to his beloved wife, Margarita, for 55 years. Together they raised two children, Alfredo and Samantha, building a life centered on love, resilience, and family. Raul worked hard throughout his life to provide every comfort for his family.
Raul often reflected on his life with gratitude, sharing that he loved his wife, raised his children well, gave his family a good home, and lived a good life without regrets. He expressed that he was at peace and ready when his time came.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Francis Conde.
Raul is survived by his loving wife, Margarita Conde; his children, Alfredo F. Conde, Samantha Conde and Roy Barrera, his nephew that was his son-at-heart and his wife Michelle; his daughter-in-law, Terri Conde; and his son-in-law, Pedro Ceniceros. He is also survived by his siblings, Anna Marie Rives, Louis Conde, and Richard Conde; his sisters-in-law, Carmen Conde and Mary Conde; his grandchildren, Alfredo Conde Jr., Isabel Conde, and Gabrielle Ngo and her husband, Andy Ngo; and his great-grandchildren, Luka, Noah, and Sophia Ngo. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Raul Castro Conde will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him. His legacy of strength, love, and devotion to family will live on for generations to come.
