

Raul Tijerina, 62, died at 4:38 a.m., Saturday, May 23, 2015 from a brief and sudden illness at Arlington Memorial Hospital. Raul was born June 12, 1952, in McAllen, Tx. He worked as a telecommunications technician, had a passion for cars and horses. Raul married Esther Garcia and moved his new family to Dallas, Tx and has resided in Dallas for over 30 years. He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Tijerina; his sister, Esther Tijerina; his brother Jose Luis Tijerina; his nieces, Monica and Yvonne; his nephews, Abeladro, Arturo, Adrian, Romeo, and Jose Luis Jr. and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Trinidad Tijerina and Maria Agapita Tijerina; and his brother, Trinidad Tijerina, Jr. Raul had a passion for horses and was often found at Lone Star Park. In his spare time he loved to find classic cars and restore them to original condition or as close to it, while listening to his favorite classic rock music. He was very fond of his daughter's English Bulldogs and would often babysit them as needed. Viewing & Visitation in Dallas, TX, will be held between 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at Laurel Land Funeral home. In accordance with his wishes, Raul will be going back home to McAllen, Tx, for funeral and burial. Burial arrangements are at Valley Memorial Gardens 3605 North Taylor Rd. Mission, TX 78573.
