

Father Raymond John Scott, a retired priest of the Diocese of Dallas, died February 22, 2012. He was a native of Philadelphia, PA, born October 20, 1923 to James and Honorine Scott. Fr. Scott attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Collingdale, PA and graduated from West Catholic High School for Boys in Philadelphia, graduating in 1941. He attended St. John’s Home Mission Seminary in Little Rock, AR and was ordained for the Diocese of Dallas on May 27, 1948 at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Dallas, by Bishop Patrick J. Lynch. Father Scott served as an Assistant Pastor of St. Edward’s, Dallas, 1948-1950; St. John, Ennis, 1950-1953; and Sacred Heart Cathedral, Dallas, 1953-1958. He served as Pastor of St. William, Greenville, 1958-1968; Sacred Heart, Wichita Falls, 1968-1969; St. Phillip, Dallas 1969-1978; Blessed Sacrament, Dallas, 1978-1983; and St. John, Terrell, 1983-1999. He retired from active Ministry in 1999.
Fr. Scott also served as Diocesan Scout Chaplain and Dean of the Wichita Falls Deanery and Chaplain for the Catholic Daughters of America. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council # 799 and Father Abram J. Ryan Assembly and Knights of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem. Survived by his sister, Therese Donnelly of Fairfax, VA. And preceded in death by his brother, Rev. James L. Scott & six other brothers & sisters.
Friends and parishioners may pay their respects on Sunday, February 26, 2012, from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm and Monday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 pm, Monday, February 27, 2012, in the Holy Family Chapel at Christus St. Joseph Village, 1201 E. Sandy Lake Rd, Coppell, TX. 75019. The Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 28, 2012, Holy Family Chapel at Christus St. Joseph Village. Most Reverend Kevin J. Farrell, D.D. Bishop of Dallas, Principal Celebrant. Rev. Msgr. Thomas W. Weinzapfel, Homilist. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Priest Circle at Calvary Hill Cemetery. If desired memorial contribution may be made in Fr.
