Rebeca “Becky” Gonzalez Rocha, beloved wife, mother, educator, counselor, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the age of 44.
Born on December 23, 1981, Becky was a proud Dallas native whose life reflected service, humility, faith, and unwavering love for her community. A graduate of Ursuline Academy of Dallas, Becky carried the values of compassion, discipline, and community service throughout her life and career. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Texas Woman's University and her Master’s Degree from Angelo State University.
Most recently serving as a high school counselor with Dallas Independent School District, Becky was, above all, a true educator. She possessed the calm presence of a prudent and loving mother and the steady strength of a master teacher. Her classroom demeanor was controlled, compassionate, and rock-solid — earning the respect and admiration of students, parents, and colleagues alike. Though she could have pursued opportunities elsewhere, Becky chose to remain rooted in the community she loved, dedicating her life to uplifting others in Oak Cliff and throughout Dallas.
Teaching was in Becky’s blood. She proudly carried forward the legacy of her mother, Juanita Chamberlain Gonzalez, also a master teacher who dedicated a remarkable 40 years of her life to educating students across the Dallas Independent School District (DISD) and local Catholic School. Becky believed deeply in personal accountability, higher education, and the American Dream. She constantly encouraged her students to dream big, work hard, and pursue college and opportunities beyond what they thought possible.
Becky had the biggest heart imaginable. She volunteered her time freely, always giving back to her community with humility and grace. She was loyal, compassionate, resilient, generous, thoughtful, wise, and deeply faithful. She reminded everyone around her to recognize the blessings in life and to trust in God’s goodness through every season.
Family was Becky’s greatest joy, and she was truly the quarterback of her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, Carlos Fernando Rocha; her daughter, Alma Rocha; and her sons, Carlos Rocha Jr. and Frank Rocha, all currently attending University of North Texas. Together, Becky and Carlos embodied the American Dream through hard work, faith, sacrifice, and devotion to family.
Becky was a firm believer in keeping her children active, involved, and surrounded by community. If Alma was not performing in folklórico, then either Frank or Carlos could be found on the football field — places where Becky also built many lifelong and cherished friendships. Her support extended far beyond her own children. Becky opened her home and her heart to her children’s friends, welcoming them as if they were her own. It was common to find Becky attending sporting events and cheering from the stands, even when her own children were not playing. Her encouragement and love reached every young person, fortunate enough to cross her path.
Outside of her work and service, Becky lived life with joy, style, and authenticity. One of her signature accessories was her love for flashy earrings — the bigger the hoops, the better. Purple was one of Becky’s favorite colors, and in honor of her vibrant spirit, the family kindly asks that those attending her services wear purple in her memory.
Becky loved spending time with family and friends — especially her beloved fur babies. She loved music, particularly 80s hits and Latin hip hop, and was always ready for a good conversation that could make hours feel like minutes. Becky was known for her infectious smile, outgoing spirit, and unforgettable presence on the dance floor. Her signature Coke Zero was never far from reach, and her love language was food. Family and friends will forever miss her homemade tamales and menudo; meals she lovingly prepared to bring people together.
She is also survived by her mother, Juanita Chamberlain Gonzalez; siblings Ana Laura Gonzalez, Augustin Francisco Gonzalez, and Emiliano Dionisio Gonzalez; nephews Nicolas, Vladimir, Nelson & Francisco M. Perez; nieces Leilani & Daniela; extended family members; countless students; colleagues; and dear friends whose lives were forever changed by her kindness and encouragement. Becky was preceded in death by her father, Frank Gonzalez.
Becky’s positivity, humor, generosity, and unwavering support touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy lives on through her family, her students, and the countless people she inspired to believe in themselves and strive for something greater.
She will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and never forgotten.
