Ms. Renika Lasha Brookins

Ms.Renika Brookins was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Ms.Renika was someone who found happiness in the simple things such as being with her family, enjoying her job, laughing often, meeting up with friends every now and then, and being comfortable at home.

Renika was funny and outspoken, with a strength and resilience that carried her through so much in life. At the same time, she could be private and reserved, keeping parts of herself close to the people who knew her best. She loved to laugh, and it didn't take much to get one out of her. When Renika laughed, she laughed loudly and fully. It was unmistakably hers, and it's a sound her family and friends will always remember.

More than anything, Renika loved being with her family. It didn't really matter what everyone was doing. There didn't have to be a special occasion or even a plan. Just being together was enough. She loved her daughters deeply and was always checking in, wanting to know what they were doing, how they were feeling, and whether they were okay. That was just part of loving them for her.

Renika spent much of her working life as an accountant and genuinely enjoyed the people she worked alongside. She spoke fondly of her boss and cared deeply for the team she worked with. They became an important part of the life she built outside of home, and she was grateful for them.

And home was where Renika loved to be. After work, family time, or whatever the day brought, there was nothing quite like being comfortable in her own bed and being on social media or watching movies. It was one of her favorite places to be, and anyone who knew her well knew it.

Renika's life was made up of so many of these seemingly ordinary moments, but they don't feel ordinary now. Her laughter, her check-ins, time spent together, the comfort she found at home, and simply having her here are the things her family will hold onto and miss dearly.

Renika Brookins is survived by her daughters Jimia Allen and Zhaida Naomi, Mother Sherri McClain, Sisters Sakeanah Johnson and Tarsjah Thomas, Brothers Antwain Brookins and Andra Washington, Aunts Bridgette Brown, Deborah Vann, and Kendra Burns, Uncle Kevin Burns, and nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends she called her tribe.
