Richard Hendrix Bramblett was born July 22, 1929 at St. Johns Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri, and deceased at 1:20PM on March 18, 2019. Richard was pre-deceased by son Richard, Jr., and parents Nora Lea Roddy Bramblett and Orie Hendrix Bramblett. From 1931 to 1948 Richard was at home with his mother in Forney, Texas, first graduating from Forney High School in 1946, then graduating from Texas Military College in 1948. He relocated to Houston in 1948 for his final two college years at University of Houston where he first joined Kappa Delta Kappa fraternity, then Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Richard was a member of several pioneer families of life-time Methodists, and at time of death was a member of Highland Park Methodist Church.
Richard had a ‘checkered’ career involving much travel, starting as a dispatcher while in college, then full-time assistant manager for Commercial Barge Lines Houston terminal. In 1954 he began a construction career first with LeBlanc, Inc., Houston, next advancing to J.W. Bateson Company, Dallas, where he became a senior vice president. He was then offered an opportunity at Lomas & Nettleton, where he worked until he began his own real estate company in 1974. He initially specialized in “workouts” for various lending institutions, later including real estate developments for his own accounts in Houston, Dallas, Garland, and the DFW mid-cities area.
After a short retirement at age 65, Richard then joined Real Estate Capital Partners of New York City as senior vice president. With R.E.C.P. he established a satellite office in Dallas to operate all across the United States through more than 100 successful partnerships with major developers and builders of apartments, high-rise and mid-rise office buildings. He again retired at age 77.
Richard is survived by his wife, the former Miss Patsy Jo Platt, to whom he was married in 1961 and was the true love of his life and constant help-mate. Pat graciously and with much patient love raised four children from his earlier marriage, these being Linda (spouse Eric Tagg), Sandra (spouse Bill Tigert), Nancy (spouse Mark Wetzel), and Richard, Jr. Their marriage and family was further blessed with arrival of daughters Amy (spouse Jon Emerson) and Jill (partner Susan Vanover). The combined total of these six children provided 16 grand-children and 18 great grand-children, all of whom survive. Richard is also survived by numerous friends and relatives, all of whom have contributed greatly to his long-time happiness on this good earth. He was one of those personalities who embraced life and tried to make the most of each personal encounter. To his great legacy is added his detailed story-telling, endless jokes, and infectious laughter.
Visitation and Service at Sparkman/Hillcrest in Dallas. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and Services at 12:00 PM on Friday, March 22, 2019. Reception immediately following.
