

Dick was born in Dallas, Texas, at St. Paul Hospital on July 21, 1928. His parents were Richard Crosby and Aileen Stinebaugh Crosby. He lived the large majority of his life in the greater Dallas area. With the exception of one semester he went through the Highland Park Independent School system graduating from Highland Park High School in June of 1946.
During his school years, Dick joined Highland Park United Methodist Church with his confirmation class on Easter Sunday afternoon 1938. He has remained a member for the 79 years since that time. He served two terms on the official board and was a member of the Chancel Choir for 35 years.
Dick went on to SMU and graduated with a BBA in 1950. While in college he became a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
Shortly after college, Dick served two years on active duty with the U.S. Navy in the Mediterranean Fleet. All the rest of his working years he spent in the banking industry. The large majority of that time he was an employee and officer of the Republic National Bank. He retired at age 59 in 1987.
Throughout his adult life, Dick's primary interest was his family. He married Carolyn Sue Stark in May of 1966. They had two children and two grandchildren.
Dick was active in two luncheon clubs, HPHS Alumni Club and Rotary International. During his time in Rotary, he drove the club's Meals on Wheels route for more than 20 years.
Throughout his life Dick brought joy to everyone who knew him through his wonderful, colorful stories and his friendliness. He is survived by his son Charles Crosby, his daughter Karen Sweezy, his son-in-law Noel Sweezy, his two grandchildren Ellie Sweezy and Brendan Sweezy, and by the families of his wife's niece Carol Hagen and nephew Ronald Rigney.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 4, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75225. Anyone who would care to attend will be welcome.
Memorials can be made to charities chosen by the donor.
