Richard Arnau Owen died July 2, 2014 at the age of 96. He is survived by his sister-in-law Teresa Wolters, his daughters Mary Anntoinette Owen, Christina Owen Feasley, and Katherine Collette Owen and his grandchildren Ashley Hyland, Ross Peavey, Eric Feasley and Erin Peavey. Known as “Dick” to his friends, “DOD” to his children, “GPD” to his grandchildren and “the Hawk that Waits in the Right” to his teammates, he grew up in Macon, GA and Tampa, FL. Dick was a proud Jesuit Tiger, Georgia Bulldog and member of 82nd Airborne Division during World War II, but he was proudest of his children and grandchildren, who he leaves with many treasured memories. Dick’s character was larger than life; he was blessed with a humorous and gregarious nature. Always quick-witted, Dick never missed an opportunity to tell a story or crack a joke. With an infectious smile and eternal optimism, his love of life inspired those of us who were fortunate enough to know him. His children and grandchildren will forever be grateful for his generous spirit, strong character, warmth, intelligence and love. While his presence is sorely missed by all who knew him, his deep values and abundant spirit will live always in the hearts of his friends and loved ones. The family will receive friends, Friday, July 4, 2014, from 7:00 until 8:00 PM with a Rosary service to begin at 8:00 PM, Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held, 10:00 AM, Saturday, North Chapel of Calvary Hill Mausoleum. A reception will follow the entombment at the Knights of Columbus Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sr. Concetta Fund at Holy Angels Residential Facility, 10450 Ellerbe Rd, Shreveport, LA 71106.
