Richard Holland Rawles Jr. went home to be with the Lord on June 17, 2014. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy A. Rawles, his son and daughter-in-law Tom and Cindy Rawles, his daughter and son-in-law Connie and Scott Lipscomb, his sister Ann Godley, niece Diane Skiles and nephew David Cayll. “Pop” was loved and adored by his grandchildren Elizabeth Kindred and her husband Andy, Christian Rawles and his wife Jackie, and Natalie Lipscomb, and his great-grandchildren Grace and Lillian Kindred, and Matthew and Noah Rawles. He is reunited in Heaven with his grandsons Matthew Christian Rawles and Nicholas Scott Lipscomb.
Richard was an Eagle Scout, and a graduate of Virginia Military Institute Class of 1949B. He served in the U.S. Army in Okinawa and retired as a Major. He worked for the Texas Highway Department as a civil engineer for 40 years. Richard was a man of strong faith, a prayer warrior and an avid Texas Ranger fan.
A Memorial Service will be held at Redeemer Bible Church on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 2:00. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Redeemer Bible Church Mission Fund P.O. Box 570545 Dallas, TX 75357-0545.
