Richard "Rick" Rodriguez Torrez Jr.

Richard “Rick” R. Torrez, Jr., of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved him after fighting a sudden illness. He was born on November 12, 1947 to Isabel “Bessie” Anguiano Torrez and Richard Rodriguez Torrez in Dallas, Texas.

Rick was a man who devoted his life to his family and friends. He found great joy in bringing people together and was known for his warm spirit and love of celebration. An avid Tejano dancer, Rick could often be found on the dance floor, sharing laughter and music with those around him. He especially cherished family reunions, weddings, birthdays, and gatherings, where his presence brought energy and connection to every occasion. He also had a special gift for capturing those moments and he was rarely without his camera, preserving memories of the people and celebrations he loved most.

Rick will be remembered for his kind heart, his love of community, and the way he made others feel welcomed and valued. He built lasting friendships through his church, the senior citizen center, and his neighborhood, and he held a special bond with the cousins who walked alongside him throughout life’s journey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bessie and Richard Torrez, and his brother-in-law, Ray Gonzalez, Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sister, Beatrice “Bea” Torrez Gonzalez; his brother, Steven Torrez and girlfriend Susan Foshee; his nieces, Renae Murphy and Natalie Torrez; his nephew, Ray Gonzalez III; and his KiKi cat. He is also lovingly remembered by his two special friends, Stella Rios and Kathlen Konczol, as well as his many church friends, senior center friends, neighbors, and extended family.

Visitation will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 South R.L., Dallas, TX 75232, US, on April 3, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 South R.L., Dallas, TX 75232, US, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Burial will take place at Laurel Land Mem Park - Dallas, 6300 S. R.L. Thornton Frwy., Dallas, TX 75232, US, on April 3, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
