Ricky Newell

Born September 29, 1950 in Wolfe City, Texas to the late Emery Theodore and Hazel Maureen Newell, Ricky passed away October 17, 2012 in Dallas. A 1969 graduate of Bryan Adams High School, in 1970 Ricky served in the US Army in the 82nd Airborne Division until his honorable discharge in 1974. He went to work for Allfords Warehouse in Dallas for 29 years as a Dock Supervisor, and then worked for Shippers Warehouse in Dallas as a Warehouseman for the past 9 years. Ricky loved music, like country and jazz, and enjoyed listening to music in his garage where he relaxed and cooked on the grill. He loved taking trips to the piney woods of East Texas as well as to Tenaha, Texas to visit his wife, Nancy’s family. Ricky had an outstanding personality and made many friends. He was loved dearly and will be missed.

Ricky was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donnie Lee Newell; and sisters, Onita Doss and Denise Huskey. He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Nancy Newell; children, Jason Newell, Rocky Newell, Kenney Joe, Brandon Joe and Melissa Joe; 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.

The family will receive friends 6-8 pm, Monday, October 22, 2012, and a Funeral Service will be 11 am, Tuesday, October 23, 2012, both at Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home in Dallas. Interment will follow at DFW National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
