Ricky Lynn Simpson, 72, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025. Born in Dallas on September 6, 1952, Ricky spent his life in the city he loved, surrounded by family, friends, and the sounds of laughter that so often followed him.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Ricky brought the same dedication and work ethic to his civilian life, working for many years as a monorail electrician at the Dallas Zoo. He took great pride in his work and found joy in helping bring smiles to visitors of all ages.
In April of 1980, Ricky married the love of his life, Suzette Simpson. Together, they built a life full of laughter, family, and adventure. Ricky had a deep passion for BBQ, fishing, and camping, and he never passed up the opportunity to swap stories—especially about his favorite subject: Bigfoot. His sharp wit and sense of humor made him a natural storyteller and a source of joy to all who knew him.
Ricky is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Suzette Simpson; his parents, Miriam and Narvin Simpson; and his brother, Jimmy Simpson.
He is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Kiraly (and husband Matt Kiraly) and Kayla Simpson; grandchildren, Tilly Kiraly and Molly Douglass; his sister, Vicki Dees; and his brother, David Simpson.
Ricky’s love for life, boundless humor, and heart for others will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
A visitation for Ricky will be held Friday, June 27, 2025 at 11:30 AM at Sacred Heart Cemetery Chapel, Rowlett, Texas, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 PM.
