Robert “Wayne” Austin Sr., 93, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Wayne was born in Grand Prairie, Texas, on September 9, 1933, to Wilma Parker Austin and L.D. Austin. Growing up with a spirit of adventure and a strong work ethic, he began working at an early age delivering prescriptions for a local pharmacy. While in high school, Wayne met his soulmate, Janell Roper. Following a sweet courtship, they were married and enjoyed 71 wonderful, adventurous years together until her passing in 2024.
Wayne enjoyed a long and successful career with Wyatt Cafeterias, serving as their Chief Business Development Officer and an active board member, leading company expansion after many dedicated years managing operations across several states. His career took the family to California, Colorado, and Arizona before ultimately bringing them back home to Texas. Following his retirement in 1992, Wayne cherished traveling and spending extra time at home with Janell. He later joined his brother, Dow, in woodworking projects at Northway Christian Church and Hobby Crafters, where they lovingly crafted children's furniture, dollhouses, and handcrafted toys for disadvantaged youth. Wayne was also a proud Mason and dedicated member of Polytechnic Lodge No. 925 A.F. & A.M. in Fort Worth, Texas.
