Born December 12, 1925, Philadelphia, PA, to Lena and David Granoff. Robert resided in Fall River, MA, until joining the Navy on his 17th birthday in the midst of World War II. He served in the Pacific Theater until 1946.
After his service, Robert moved to Laurelton, NY, where he met his wife, Pearl, of 63 years. They moved to Dallas in 1976.
Robert was a visionary entrepreneur, changing forever both the women’s hosiery and eyewear industries, most notably with the companies he founded, Reading Glasses To Go and ReadingGlasses.com. He also enjoyed success in the hotel industry, owning a Best Western hotel in Dallas TX. and Deltona FL..
Robert enjoyed travelling with his wife, with whom he visited forty-nine states and all seven continents. His irrepressible optimism and infectious good nature—along with his reply to anyone who asked how he was, “Fantastic!”—earned him the nickname “Mr. Fantastic” among friends and business associates alike.
His greatest pleasures were being with his family and helping the less fortunate.
In addition to his wife of 63 years, Pearl, Robert is survived by their three sons, David, Harry and Peter; daughter-in-law, Sonia; grandchildren, Jack and Max; and great-granddaughter, Bella.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas at 2 PM.
