Robert Marshall Hodge

Robert Marshall Hodge was born November 17, 1952, in San Antonio, Texas to mother Pauline Chancy Hodge and Father George Marshall Hodge. George, an Engineer with Southwestern Bell moved his family to several South Texas towns including Sequin Ana Brownsville which is where Bob developed his love for Baseball from the age of seven to thirty-Seven Bob could be seen behind the plate catching or at third In his later years.

A graduate of Robert E. Less High School in San Antonio Tx. He went on to San Antonio College (SAC) for two years where he worked at the Bookstore to pay his tuition. He Received a scholarship to the university of Texas at Austin where he got a degree in Actuarial Sciences.

An aunt in Dallas told him his future was in big D. February 1975 Bob started his career in group agricultural department of Republic national life where he met his future wife of 46 years, Judy Lindy Hodge. Bob’s 29-year professional career was spent in insurance, reinsurance and ad a broker between the industries.

Early retirement allowed more time in San Antonio for Bob to care for his parents and travel across the country with his wife.

At an early age, Bob had a special love for music be at blues or rock and all venues in between he love to pull out a guitar and play along with his favorite artist he attend did almost as many concerts as he did sports event; speaking of sports as a kid in San Antonio it was Cowboys and Astros all day, but in his later years, the Rangers knocked the Astros off the pedestal. Basketball was his wife’s Judy’s passion and since day one in 1980 the couple has been closely involved in the highs and lows of the Mavericks.

Following in his Air Force father shoes Bob also had a deep love of aviation and actually had one day wanted to be a pilot taking lessons to become one.

The knowledge of Bob’s terminal diagnosis was sudden, but he gave the good fight, leaving those on this earth who loved him late Saturday July 11th, to be in God’s waiting arms Sunday, July 12th, 2026.

The family would like to thank the oncology staff at Medical City Dallas and Vitas Hospice for their professional and personal care of Robert in the last days of his 73 years.

In Lieu of Flowers the family suggest memorials be made to a favorite animal rescue/adoption program in “Bob’s name”.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 3 PM at Sparkman Hillcrest Chapel 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75225.
