He leaves behind his wife and best friend of 32 years, Joany McCrossen, 5 children: Matthew McCrossen, Kristopher McCrossen, Chuck Henderson, Sean McCrossen and Keri Castillo, and 7 grandchildren: Rylee Johnson, Maddex McCrossen, Mason McCrossen, Chloe McCrossen, Amelia Johnson, Madison McCrossen, and Jett McCrossen.
He served in the Coast Guard for 6 years during Vietnam War time and was immensely proud of his service to his country. He participated in Patriot Guard rides to DFW National Cemetery and the Snowball Express. He was always ready and willing to help a fellow veteran or their family.
Mac is survived by his sisters Iris Wallace and Kathy Koenig, brother-in-law James E. Harris, Jr. and his wife Johnnie Harris, and countless nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and friends who all loved him dearly.
Mac is preceded in death by his parents, Robert J. and Joan J. McCrossen, brother Brian McCrossen, mother-in-law Dorothy Harris, father-in-law James E. Harris, sisters-in-law Jeany Finch and Jerry McCoy, nephew Matthew Finch, and grand-nephew Porter Schorr.
He was a great man who loved motorcycles, even though a horrible accident 8 years ago left him unable to ride. He had a huge heart and was always ready to help anyone in need. Mac loved animals, and he and his wife Joany always had multiple pets in their home whom they spoiled and loved like their children.
Above all, Mac loved his family. He will be laid to rest at a later date at DFW National Cemetery, with a celebration of life to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make a donation in Mac’s name to the SPCA of Texas or Dallas Animal Services.
The family also wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the team in the Neuro/Trauma ICU and Seasons Hospice at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital for the loving care given to Mac and the compassion extended to us.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.calvaryhilldallas.com for the McCrossen family.
