Robert Lewis Owen

Robert L. Owen (Bob), 85, passed away on June 8, 2015 in Dallas, Texas. He was born in Dallas on August 17, 1929 to Arris and Stella Owen and graduated from Highland Park High School in 1944. Robert graduated with a degree in Economics from the University of Arkansas in 1948. He began his business career as a cotton broker. At age 20, Robert brokered the first shipload quantity of cotton ever to be exported out of Mexico. In the early 1960’s, he changed careers to become a stock and commodity broker, a career he excelled in and enjoyed for over 50 years until the time of his death. In 1983, Robert married Billye Breimo Howell. Bob and Billye an active social life and travelled extensively for many years. They enjoyed each other immensely and were blessed with a wonderful marriage. Robert Owen is survived by his wife, Billye; daughter, Lisa Owen; sons, John Owen and David Howell; and grandsons, Robert S. Owen and John Patrick Owen. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Arris, Jr. The visitation for Mr. Owen will be held Thursday, June 11, 2015 from 6-8 o’clock pm at the funeral home. The funeral service will be on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 12 o’clock noon in the Northwest Highway Chapel at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home with interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
